6 Tips to Decorate Your Office Space

decorating your officeDecorating may or may not be one of your favorite things to do, but at the end of the day it’s one of those things that has to get done. It’s the frosting on that delicious cake you’ve been baking. You know what I mean. As a REALTOR®, you know the image you portray is huge, don’t let your office chairs miss the memo. Here are a few tips, tricks and things to consider when decorating/redecorating that office of yours!

Keep Comfortability in Mind!

Creating a comfortable environment for your visiting clients is perfect for building a strong relationship. They’ll open up, trust you and leave feeling good about the situation. Think ‘business casual’ when picking out the couch pillows. You want them to look nice but also serve their purpose.

Make it Cozy!

You are selling homes (or helping them buy) and your office is a reflection of your taste and professionalism. If you make them feel at home in your office, they may be more likely to work with you and refer you to a friend.

Maintain Functionality!

Don’t compromise your business or the quality of your work with your office decorations. You and your employees should get day-to-day tasks done with ease without tripping over the beaded door curtain that goes to your office.

Personalize it!

You don’t have to spend tons of money to make your office homey. Displaying pictures of you, your family or things you love can be a huge benefit. Clients can appreciate that you’ve seen the Eiffel Tower, and maybe even be able to relate to you on a different level. At the same time, don’t go over board with pictures of your pets. Keep a good balance.

Add Some Color!

Neutral colors are always great. White, black, gray and beige will never go out of style or look tacky. Keep color schemes in mind when decorating. Too many colors or clashing colors can make a client feel uncomfortable and they won’t even know why.

Keep it Clean!

You obviously want your office to be clean and smell nice. Just keep in mind your favorite candle or incense can be someone else’s allergy or asthma attack so keep it to a minimum.
