REALTORs: Use Video for Awesome Blog Posts

Have you ever used a video in a blog post?

What about offering a video based virtual tour to announce a new listing on your website? We’ve even seen some extremely successful agents take consumer questions from their Facebook page and answer them by posting a video response on their website’s blog.

How To Embed Video

At TRIBUS we like to talk anything tech/ website/ SEO related. This specific post will take a more in depth look at utilizing video in your WordPress website and blog.

If you use YouTube as your video host of choice, you’re in luck! Because WordPress makes this an insanely simple process. Even if you’re a beginner it should take you about 2 seconds to add a YouTube video to your website. Simply copy the direct URL of your video (example: http://myawesomevideo.com) and paste it wherever you want the video to appear on your page or blog post. Yes, it really is that easy!

Video Host Options

YouTube

YouTube offers some more advanced sharing options that will allow you to embed the video. However, the only time you would ever need this HTML version within your WordPress website would be if you would like to incorporate your video into a widget. If so, check out the video at the end of this post for working with html.

Wistia

If you want a more advanced video host, we like Wistia. A video host of this caliber would allow you as the agent to easily store and organize video libraries, edit the thumbnail of your video, embed with various formats, incorporate directly in email marketing, social sharing and MUCH more. You can even pull reports to see how many times your video has been viewed and see what your other team members have been uploading to keep everyone on track.

Video SEO

We must mention, when using a video as the main context on a post or page, please make sure you are titling your videos effectively. Meaning, be as descriptive as you can of the topic your plan to cover.

Also, add some text to that page! The best way to use video on your website is to begin by introducing what you’re about to display and paraphrase the context just a bit. This will greatly improve how search engines can index that page or blog post.
